Nordost Red Dawn Speaker Cable 3 M
If you're relatively unfamiliar with Nordost products, you may know the manufacturer for its unique speaker cables. This cable architecture is not just a tactic to stand out from the competition. The fact is that flat speaker cables work better. The introduction of flat speaker cable geometry reduces capacitance, conductor interaction, and skin effect. If all this is true, why is Nordost the only cable manufacturer to use this design? Because only Nordost has the technology to produce ultra-thin, airtight, durable and flexible cables with the precision required to create a high-quality audio cable. The Red Dawn series from Nordost is the top-level product line in the Leif family. Using Nordost's proprietary cable construction, including silver-plated solid cores and FEP extrusion, Red Dawn cables deliver natural, seamless performance from your home audio system. Red Dawn cables allow your system to take that final step from simply producing enjoyable music to true performance that is beyond the reach of a standard cable configuration. An ideal high-quality audio cable neither adds nor subtracts anything from the signal it transmits. By equipping your sound system with a neutral cable, you can achieve more realistic results. The main feature of the Nordost Leif series, which includes the Red Dawn cable, is not so much special filters or rare materials, but rather ultra-precise engineering, detailed design and manufacturing.
Nordost's revolutionary Flatline speaker cable introduced the audio world to a whole new level of performance and unique manufacturing technology. The signature, extruded FEP cables with a thin, flat profile don't just look different than conventional cables—their deceptive simplicity is a uniquely elegant response to the conflicting low resistance, capacitance, and inductance requirements that limit the performance of more conventional cable configurations. Now, by redefining the geometry of each cable in its new series, further reducing dielectric effects, and optimizing the physical spacing between the 20 solid (26 AWG) silver-plated OFC conductors, Nordost has created a cable capable of delivering phenomenal detail and precision in phase, speed and dynamic range. From the quietest, most subtle note to the power of a thunderous orchestral crescendo or the drive of a rock performance, Red Dawn LS covers the range with effortless grace and total control, allowing the music to seduce when it wants to or be wild when it needs to be. . Sitting at the top of the Leif family, Red Dawn LS compares to competing cables regardless of price. Red Dawn cable provides the best performance for a speaker cable that does not use Micro Mono-Filament/TSC construction.
The Nordost Red Dawn Speaker Cable connector is highly reliable; factory installation guarantees the absence of oxidation at the contact points between the conductor and the connector. Thanks to this, the cable maintains its high sound characteristics throughout the entire period of operation.

Nordost blue pill. Nordost Blue Heaven LS speaker cable, review. Magazine "WHAT HI-FI?"
As usual, plugging the Nordost cable into the system creates a sensation of breakthrough - the upper register is transformed, and with it the music itself
Save and read later -
Despite the existence of expensive flagship products, the Blue Heaven line has always been the most popular - at a relatively modest price, it provided a gateway to the world of Nordost's signature sound: defiantly fast, rhythmic, clear, but sometimes too bright. In the new version of LS, the company's engineers miraculously managed to preserve and enhance the advantages of the bestseller, while ridding it of the mentioned tendency to brightness. To achieve this, the cable geometry was changed; now 16 conductors (8 per pole) are installed with an equal gap. The color of the insulation has changed, but it is still the same Teflon.
Changes are noticeable immediately
As usual, the inclusion of the Nordost cable into the system causes a feeling of breakthrough - the upper register is transformed, and with it the music itself - the piano compositions of Erik Satie, performed by Anna Keffelek, are freed from constraint and heaviness. The influence of the cable on symphonic music is even more noticeable - in the scene “The Death of Tybalt” from S. Prokofiev’s ballet “Romeo and Juliet”, not only the speed of attack increases, but also the variety of dynamic accents, the parts that previously stuck together are divided into separate spatial and semantic planes.
Effective cable, but not for everyone
It would seem that such a clearing cable is a real godsend for modern music. Alas, not for everyone. For example, Take a Bow by Muse begins to sound more clear and precise, but at the same time straightforward: electronic arrangements no longer seem as mysterious and virtuosic as when using our editorial cable, and a subtle brightening (due to the opening of the upper mids and high frequencies ) the tonal balance somewhat deprives the recording of warmth and melody. In fairness, it is worth noting that this is typical for our reference circuit, and many real systems that are prone to a warm, but not sufficiently developed and open sound, thanks to Nordost, will receive a portion of invigorating freshness.
BEHIND
Smooth, clear, unusually fast, prominent and informative sound
AGAINST
Avoid use in overly straight paths
VERDICT
A cable with a lot of signature talent, virtually no side effects. But before using this strong medicine, you should consult a specialist.

Speaker cable Nordost Leif Series Red Dawn banana 3.0m
So, in 2011, Nordost celebrates its twentieth anniversary - which means that significant experience has been accumulated, which is today embodied in every product of the company. It all started in a very non-trivial way, which Lars openly told about. One day, while relaxing in a bar, Christensen saw a tall, bald stranger. After talking with him, Lars learned that this stranger was engaged in the production of cables, several samples of which he immediately handed over to our hero for audition. Lars replaced his usual cables with them... and was not at all impressed. The system sounded completely new, and this is exactly what Christensen did not like. Nevertheless, he continued to listen - and got so used to the new cables that, having returned his own, he realized that they could not withstand any competition with “strangers”. These cables became the “rulers” of the famous Nordost Flatline Gold model, which were produced on for 20 years and all this time remained at the peak of popularity. 18 years ago Nordost began producing Blue Heaven cables. Distributors considered this model too expensive, but, despite their professional opinion, Blue Heaven remained Nordost's best-selling cables until very recently. Another 2 years later, 16 years ago, the Red Dawn line appeared on the market. Since its quality was higher than its predecessors, and the price was higher, the situation repeated itself: Red Dawn was also accused of being too expensive. But only some of the experts thought so; the rest, to the surprise of Lars Christensen himself, said that you need to pay more for a cable of this quality. 15 years ago, Nordost presented the first reference cable - SPM (Speed, Precision and Musicality - “speed, accuracy and musicality"). Thus, the company stepped into the high-end market, instantly receiving laudatory reviews from the press. 11 years ago, perhaps the most famous cable was born - Nordost Valhalla, which made a real revolution in the cable industry. At that time, Valhalla became the fastest cable in the world, but today the acoustic “Valhalla” firmly holds its place on the podium, because it transmits a signal at a speed equal to 96% of the speed of light (according to Lars, this is 35% faster than from competitors). Valhalla received 36 “Cable of the Year” awards, 28 “Editor’s Choice” awards, and was even recognized as a “Best Buy” in England. Finally, after another 4 years, the world famous top-end Nordost Odin reference cable was released - the most expensive and one of the most exotic . Its bandwidth was 10 times greater than that of its predecessors (80 GHz versus 8). And then came today. The old lines have given way to the “newcomers” from the Leif series, and their history, we are sure, will be long and glorious.
