Domestic acoustic systems and speakers
Many many years ago, our country was called the USSR or, in its abbreviated form, the Soviet Union. So it seemed to us then that everything that had foreign letters on it and sounded and played better would last years. before many realize that this, to put it mildly, is not entirely true. And today we are chasing Lomo and Kinapami. Below is a list of speaker systems produced in our country.

MMC Planet KVN
MMC "Planet KVN" is equipped with the most modern equipment capable of solving any creative problems. Our specialists designed, manufactured and installed mechanical equipment for the stage and television studio.
Arena CSKA
Taking into account the specifics of the room, which must meet international requirements for equipment, and in which, in addition to prestigious sports competitions, various entertainment events are held, the active line array DAS Audio AERO 38A was taken as the basis for the configuration - a ready-made solution with configured equipment that is simply enough to be turned on .
Television studio S-600-1 at VGTRK
The equipment that makes up the lighting system was equipped based on the possibility of freely transforming the space. All the equipment we used to equip the studio, with the exception of ARRI spotlights and the ZERO 88 remote control, was developed and produced at the facilities.
Production of Arslab speaker systems: report from the Audiomania factory in Riga
Riga greeted us with clear skies, bright sunshine, and the absence of bustle and traffic jams.
The factory is located in an industrial area within the city. Staff: 15 people.
Upon entering the factory, visitors are greeted by a small demo room.
The information board was later useful to us for illustrating the differences in the acoustic properties of various materials used in the production of speaker cabinets.
The first workshop is the production of housings. The only thing larger than this workshop is the warehouse for finished products. In the workshop, water is automatically sprayed from the ceiling to maintain the required air humidity.
On the day of my visit, cases for the Arslab Classic model were being manufactured. During production at the factory, high-precision “five-axis” German machines are used, capable of automatically changing tools for various operations. The cutting of parts takes into account all the nuances, including the mating angles for better application and performance of the glue.
The workpiece turns into body 1
The workpiece turns into body 2
It is most efficient to produce enclosures of the same model within at least one day. For example, for a week, make only Arslab Classic 3.5 cases without reconfiguring machines with a productivity of up to 50 cases per day. The gluing of the cases is done manually. At this stage, the bitumen sound absorber is glued in the places calculated for this model. In addition to gluing, the material is secured with a stapler.
Next, priming, sanding, and painting in several layers are carried out; In the case of finishing with natural veneer, further application of varnishes and transparent paints is also used. For each type of finish, appropriate adhesives, varnishes and paints are selected.
The photo shows a special installation for mixing paint in 50-kilogram cans. This is necessary to achieve color stability in a batch of cases.
Subtleties of the process, why so many layers are needed
All possible ways are used to obtain the maximum quality of painting: the required humidity is maintained, the ventilation system pumps huge volumes of air, a special device is used to remove dust and static from employee uniforms, technological pauses of up to a day are maintained between the operations of priming, sanding, applying layers of varnish or paint; hulls of different colors are not painted within one day. A small percentage of defects are eliminated by quality control, and the body is completely repainted. In general, the technology is similar to car painting.
Next, the cases are sent to an intermediate warehouse. Automated control has been implemented: the operator enters the arrival of buildings into the tablet, and all data is immediately available in the Moscow office. This allows you to plan and ensure the rhythm of deliveries and significantly simplifies logistics.
Crossovers are made manually according to technological maps of a specific model. Mundorf, Jantzen, Audiocore components are used.
Director Artyom Firemark demonstrates a set of crossover parts for a top-end acoustic model
For internal wiring of different models of speaker systems, different speaker wires are used, including silver ones.
The next stage is manual installation of all components into the case. Speakers are purchased from five trusted suppliers: Seas, Wavecor, Sica, Morel, Beyma. There are agreements with some of them to order batches of speakers to the required specifications and even single copies for experiments. At this stage, a sound absorber of one of four types is placed and attached to the housing.
Before packaging, the frequency response of each manufactured specimen is compared with a reference characteristic curve for a given model.
Protected holographic stickers with numbers are glued to each column of the pair, self-destructing when removed, and the numbers in the pair are consecutive.
I have always liked the packaging of Audiomania products. Both visually (cardboard boxes on a durable frame, assembled with self-tapping screws, and other signs of military style), and from the point of view of practicality and safety of the product.
I was able to capture the process of creating the internal packaging of the acoustics:

The four hour tour of the factory flew by. Some of the company's know-how remained behind the scenes, and some manufacturing subtleties, for example, various options for crossing layers of wood and options for damping housings, are too highly specialized information. In general, at the factory I was struck by the overall quality of the organization of the production process, the optimal pace of work and rhythm. At the same time, it is possible to quickly change over the process and launch another model in the same repeatable quality. Factory owner Artyom Faermark, technical director Viktor Lagarpov, as well as designer Yuri Fomin gave comprehensive answers to all questions. I was pleased with the culture and organization of production, as well as the general atmosphere at the factory; it feels like each of the employees strives for the best work results.
I express my gratitude for the invitation and hope that my short report was interesting to music lovers and audiophiles.
