Pros: Excellent workmanship. The case is made impeccably, at least from the outside. They cope well with my musical preferences, which are almost everything except heavy music. Of course, any assessment is very subjective and depends on our preferences. Personally, the bass is enough for me, the bass is clear, deep and moderately elastic. I really like the fact that in my combination you can listen comfortably at low volume. Sometimes I listen even at night, and this is in a standard Moscow reinforced concrete building built in the 80s. During the day, if you turn it up loud, the neighbors can’t hear their TV. It is difficult for me to evaluate the quality of vocals and the transparency of high frequencies, so I will simply say that I am quite satisfied. I listen to them almost all the time when I'm at home. There is no urge to turn it off, the sound does not cause fatigue or stress. For the money they cost, you can safely turn a blind eye to the shortcomings.

Disadvantages: Takes a long time to play out. Well, for a very long time (like the amplifier purchased for them). In my case, they turned out to be very critical of the location. It is necessary to arrange them correctly in the room, without this there is no way. I didn’t like the location of the holes on the terminals: It’s inconvenient to plug bananas (connectors at the end of the wires) into the bottom pair of terminals if you want to connect via bi-wiring or bi-amping. They rest against the upper terminals or against the stand if they are plugged in from below. If you connect with one pair of wires and keep the jumpers, make sure that the jumpers make good contact with the terminals to which the wires are connected. In my case, I had to make a small lining under the jumpers, otherwise they seemed to be “dangling” too loosely, but maybe I’m just like bananas.

Comment: I bought it two months ago. I also took it blindly. Didn't listen. Along with them, an NAD C 375BEE amplifier was purchased. Connected as standard (with jumpers) - each with a pair of QED X-Tube XT-300 wires. It took me a while to find a more or less optimal location for them. Definitely, they cannot be placed close to the side walls - there will be a hum. I set them back a meter or so. From the back wall, you also need to set aside 16 centimeters, no less. You can play with foam plugs for bass reflexes, included in the delivery set, and options for installation with or without spikes. Spikes are also included. In any case, everything will depend on the acoustic characteristics of the room. If the high frequencies seem harsh or too directional, you can make the following trick: cut out a circle from electrical tape the size of a 50-kopeck coin or a 10-ruble coin (you can choose the optimal size) and glue it to the metal tweeter grille in the center. The sound changes, checked. Of course, if you listen to a bunch of other kits, you will probably find something more interesting, but as you know, the best equipment is the one that is at home and regularly fulfills its purpose. And the quality of the material being listened to and the playback devices play an important role.

The appearance was also influenced by the new tweeter - this is an improved proprietary design with a “golden” dome. In this version, it is mounted in an additional ventilated chamber, which minimizes distortion and increases efficiency at the highest frequencies, reducing the load on the amplifier. It is covered with its own silver grill with perforation unusual for Monitor Audio.

The tweeter, located in its own chamber, is adjacent to the midrange speaker, and together they are also fenced off from the main volume of the speaker. The speakers are mounted through a magnet: this way it is possible to achieve rigidity of the case and at the same time get rid of screws. Of course, over time, the fastening will have to be tightened, but this must be done carefully: according to Barnsly experts, in order to tighten the screw, the force of one finger will be enough - otherwise the magnet will not hold up and will burst. And Monitor Audio's speakers are of its own production.

The low-frequency drivers use technology that comes from the flagship Platinum line - a DCF filter: a polypropylene ring located between the membrane and the coil, which blocks high frequencies and strengthens the magnetic system, which reduces distortion. The woofers and midrange drivers are made of proprietary C-CAM alloy coated with RST (Rigid Surface Technology) knurled ceramics. This solution increased the rigidity of the diffusers, but at the same time made it possible to reduce their weight.

The speakers have molded polymer baskets, which also increases rigidity and damping. The drivers are framed with perforated aluminum trims, which makes the acoustics look fresh. The crossover uses premium polypropylene film capacitors and air and laminated steel core coils, individually designed for each system.

The cases were designed with the help of the National Physical Laboratory. In the development, engineers used a precise laser scanner, which made it possible to determine the resonances of the housings and correctly position the internal partitions and struts. The cabinet design is bass reflex, and all speakers have HiVe II ports at the back.

With all these changes, the Silver line has become more serious and more technologically advanced. And this obviously affected the sound.

Traditionally, my colleagues note that a family trait of Monitor Audio is sonority and brightness of high-frequency delivery. In the older floor-standing model Silver 500, the rock has not gone away, but it has been added with pleasant smoothness and streamlining. Those who were able to spend more time with the new line of speakers than we, visitors, and directly compare the sound of old and new models, noted increased detail and improved bass control compared to the previous generation, especially close to walls.

It was Barnsly specialists who provided sales statistics for the previous generation of Silver speakers. According to them, Russian buyers are drawn to walnut veneer finishes and noble black varnish, and the third most popular color is white. However, this generation did not abandon it: Silvan said that the company decided to experiment and instead of white glossy varnish it offers a satin finish.

Personally, the white speakers coated with tons of varnish remind me of refrigerators, so I liked the calmer finish, which does not collect all the possible reflections of the universe. There are six color options in total: in addition to white, the new “silvers” will be available in traditional black lacquer, walnut, mahogany (a very popular option in the northern capital, according to Barnsly), black oak and light oak.

The line was wide and varied: it included nine acoustic systems. The main difference is that this generation of Silver features two options for center channel acoustics - larger (C350) and smaller (C150). This variety will allow you to assemble a home theater based on Silver systems for a room of any size.

Sylvan explained that the design was redesigned so that everyone could distinguish Silver acoustics from Bronze with the naked eye. Changes have affected the podium of floor-standing models: now the acoustics can be installed on the supplied spikes or legs, which are secured with open nuts. The younger floor-standing and bookshelf models Silver 200 and Silver 50 are very different from the previous generation. They now have 5.25-inch midrange and low-frequency speakers installed instead of 6-inch ones, due to which the acoustic enclosures themselves have been narrowed. Thanks to this, the Silver series has a full-fledged compact home theater set designed for small spaces. The C150's center channel is slightly smaller than its predecessor and now fits easily into a standard AV rack.

Visually, the acoustics have become more collected, stricter, and more serious than the previous generation Silver.
