What floor-standing acoustics look like in the region of one hundred thousand rubles - three pairs from Arslab, DALI and ELAC
We looked at a whole range of “floor-standing speakers” - from the most affordable systems [a couple of other selections] to acoustics approaching the hundred thousand ruble mark. This time we are talking about similar models and touching on those that can cost a little more than this amount.
Floor-standing speakers ELAC Debut Reference DFR52 – Audiomania.ru
[95,220] ELAC Debut Reference DFR52 is a model that continues the developments of the brand’s line called Debut 2.0. For it, engineers refined both the “filling” and the design of the cabinets. The latter turned out to be quite compact and narrow [185 x 1015 x 241 mm, 16.7 kg], so the speakers were not the largest. Under the “hood” of the Debut Reference DFR52 there are two LF and one 5.25-inch midrange drivers. All three woofers are equipped with aramid fiber cones and mounted on cast aluminum anti-resonance baskets. The inch tweeter is covered by its own protective grille.
In addition to local protection, the acoustics are equipped with a general mesh on magnetic holders. It does not “kill” the appearance of the system - experts evaluate it as neutral and universal from the point of view of possible combinations with various types of interiors. One of the design options is an oak finish on the case along with a front panel made in the “white gloss” style. The second is “walnut” with a black front side of the speakers. DFR52 cabinets are made of MDF and are equipped with ties to increase structural rigidity.
The maximum input power is 140 W.
The model stands out among its competitors by the number of bass reflex ports - there are three of them on each speaker. Two of them are made in a classic form and are located on the back of the cabinet, and the third is located on the front side right at the base of the case.
In general, these speakers can easily be used to create an entire multi-channel home theater set, but Stereo.ru experts still recommend limiting yourself to a stereo system and share their impressions of just such a setup in their review.
[99,990] DALI Oberon 7 is one of the brand’s notable flagship models, replacing the Zensors. Its notable feature is SMC technology, which engineers extended from the magnetic systems of more expensive acoustics to the hardware of Oberon 7. It reduces the likelihood of any distortion by compensating for the influence of eddy currents on the operation of woofers. On board this system there are two 7-inch midrange/bass drivers with diffusers made of paper-wood pulp and a 29-mm tweeter operating in an extended frequency range. If we talk about the bass reflex, for this model we allocated one on each of the speakers - on the back of the case.
Recommended amplifier power is 30-180 W.
As they write in Stereo.ru, Oberon 7 is “worth one and a half of its price tag” and stands out for its high-quality embossed finish. It is available in four versions: from “white” to “black ash”. Depending on the “style,” they are supplemented with protective nets made of sackcloth or black fabric.
The MDF cabinets turned out to be quite light [14.8 kg], but not so compact [200 x 1015 x 340 mm]. The base for them is made in the form of a metal frame - you can screw spikes into it, or put legs with rubber bases. Engineers ensure the rigidity of the body through spacers and, of course, do not forget about damping.
[107,820] Arslab Classic 3.5 is another system developed by Yuri Stanislavovich Fomin and his colleagues. It is based on premium speakers from Wavecor - there are two 168 mm woofers with diffusers made of impregnated cellulose and a similar 168 mm midrange driver. There is also a 30 mm Wavecor TW030WA12-01 tweeter made of thin impregnated fabric - the engineers placed it in a neat shallow horn. A fairly “visible” bass reflex port was placed on the rear wall of the speaker housing.
Recommended amplifier power is 25-150 W.
Floor-standing acoustics Arslab Classic 3.5 - Audiomania.ru
As in other systems of the brand, high-quality components are used here - for example, Audiocore capacitors. Engineers also pay attention to damping and maintaining the level of rigidity of the cabinets. They are made of MDF, the inner sides are covered with sheets of bitumen, spacers and sound-absorbing material made in Denmark are used. They offer four finishes: walnut veneer, black ash, white and black lacquer. Of course, the set of these acoustics also includes protective “grills” with special clamps.
In general, the speakers turned out to be massive [25 kg] and decent in size [200 x 1080 x 325 mm]. Their “foundation” is a massive platform with spikes. As SalonAV experts say, the model is versatile and can play both as part of a stereo system and in a multi-channel home theater setup. They also pay attention to the unique ratio of quality and cost that the manufacturer managed to achieve.

Basics of the project
FrameArticle from Hobby HiFi magazine 2008-06 in German. In which there is also a very interesting acoustics project using this speaker. Meticulously documented.
Magazine pages
Graph of the distortions that the Germans measured:
As you can see, the distortion values in the working area are less than half a percent, the result is very serious - hence the price.
Comparison with the budget sector: I once made three-way homemade acoustics with a domestic ASAlab midrange speaker
So, if we compare only the midrange speakers out of context, the wavevecor will have a much more pleasant midrange, without accents or bends, but less sensitivity due to the size of the coil and magnet.
I'm planning WF118WA02
used in a floor-standing three-way speaker system with an extended frequency range, as a mid-frequency link with high linearity. Follow the reviews.
My review of budget two-way acoustics.

Wavecor is our answer to the crisis. "League of Sound"
A crisis is raging outside, emptying our wallets and shattering our dreams. We just started to live well... and the money ran out. But the Russian land has not yet become depleted of peasant ingenuity. With this article we are starting a series of publications that will help young and not so... music lovers achieve the desired result in constructing high-end systems with their own hands at the lowest cost for their pockets.

was not chosen by chance and not only because Wavecor loudspeakers are used in their projects by eminent companies such as Audio Physic, with the highest quality of manufacturing of their loudspeakers, which we ourselves were convinced of when getting acquainted with the production, Wavecor loudspeakers have a very HUMANE price. Danish engineer and general manager of Wavecor, Allan Isaksen, explained to us that the company's designers optimize loudspeaker components in such a way that without losing sound quality, they get a good price result. Separately, I would like to note that the output computer control of products is 100%, which we saw with our own eyes while walking along the production line.
In our project, we used components and materials available for purchase: “Wavecor” WF 168 WA 01 (4 Omh), Tw – TW 030 WA 05, components (coils, capacitors, etc.) of an average price category, simple (to our look) solutions that will allow even an inexperienced amateur to get a good result. During the design, we used the LMS software and measurement system with the LEAP application and will illustrate the entire process to you.
The first step in the work is to calculate the body, which is necessary for real measurements and further work on the project. We provide you with a simple drawing and TS parameters of the “Wavecor” WF 168 WA 01 (4 Ohm) loudspeaker.
The second step will be measurements and calculations in a real case.
The third step will be filter calculations. Here we approached it as follows: the entire element base is available for purchase. The circuitry itself is very simple (in our opinion, of course).By using a digital processor you can get a very smooth frequency response, for example in the Bi – Amp version.
The search for options is not over yet. We think that later we will optimize the filters for tube amplifiers, but each of those who are interested in this project can make an invaluable contribution.
PS.
After listening, we liked the option with a 2nd order filter better. The system has an “expensive” sound, at a low investment price. This kit can be purchased for 13,000 – 15,000 rubles, depending on the cost of the filter elements. We wish you good luck in your creativity. Based on materials from F-Lab
