NEVA AUDIO PRO FIDELITY
Best comment or answer. Award from the editors Hello, dear colleagues! This is my first time writing here, I even had to register for this. The topic is too pleasant
I have had a Neva “Seven” since the end of 2012, after a year of happily owning a 400-watt two-channel amplifier from NevaAudio. I was wildly pleased until I heard the “seven” monoblocks: there was so much “air” for reasonable money that it was impossible to resist. I listened to it on the same acoustics that I had, Focal Electra.
The wires and components of the system took a long time to be selected and “filtered”. DAXX left, unable to withstand the competition (“bright and blurry” ). The “Seven” (professional) was replaced by the “household” “eight”, more precisely, the A-800M (“seven” period is recorded here: https://stereo.ru/to/58a48-aleksandr-dolinin-slushatel), the main reason for the replacement is the ability to use a non-standard network cable, in my case - Oyaide. The gain in sound is decent... The main source is ORRO 105D, connected directly to the monoblocks. The wire, Canare 805 XLR, was chosen quite quickly, after a “tender” from 3 candidates with an affordable price. This is for stereo. I listen to multi-channel through Integra DTR 70.4 (source - ORRO 105D, Integra works as an amplifier for the rear, center and sub, as before - for the Neva, it sounds quite musical, it should be noted). Connected to “Neva” RCA cable Audioquest Colorado.
“Neva” is connected to the acoustics with a Cordial Highflex CLS 240 cable. It confidently outperformed the VanDerHull AudioBronze that stood before it.
Concerns about the compatibility of acoustics and amplifiers are well founded: the power is enough to burn out any household speakers, and when I made the decision to buy monoblocks, I understood that an accident could kill my favorite speakers, which I had been selecting for a long time, but I could not resist the sound , which was issued by the “sevens”. However, this system has been working for me for more than three years, almost every day, but, of course, at a volume that is gentle on the ears, and I would not say that “the speakers are dead” (by the way, advice: periodically reconnect the cables, and this feeling It will pass, the contacts are just a little oxidized... ).
Now I’m waiting for my favorite mixing console to arrive from St. Petersburg from another St. Petersburg company (it was sent for modernization as a stereo pre - incomparable, believe me). And from them - a DAC, DIGICON DAC-202. I expect that the sound will please (all these components were “heard” on a friend’s Neva!) True, the problem is that the DAC does not have volume control, but they promised to do it, probably because of the non-standard nature of the task, the process was delayed... If they do it and it will come to me... I can’t wait!
There is no need to be afraid of powerful Russian technology! If you know how to control yourself and not turn the volume control all the way up, you can’t think of anything better! Unless, of course, you have a few extra millions...

Neva Audio amplifiers: class multiplied by availability
Order! In addition to sound, any professional device has a whole host of important performance characteristics. Firstly, this is the price. Secondly, reliability. Thirdly, the level and speed of service. And if we are talking about a completely biased attitude, then any professional device is also the personality of its creator, the level of engineering, experience, traditions and reputation, which all together results in the so-called school.
The Neva Audio company took place, and took place quite a long time ago. Amplifiers of this brand have been successfully sold for more than twenty years, and many of its models are in demand all over the world. Of course, when selling the first batches of its amplifiers in 1987, Neva Audio was in a special position (any foreign competitor was an order of magnitude more expensive), but today the situation is completely different - there is a great variety of equipment on the market, for every taste, task and thickness of wallet. Why does Neva Audio not give up its position? Most likely, because Neva Audio is a very good school. A school you trust. Traditions that are easy to follow. An experience that rarely lets you down. Value for money that cannot be matched.
Maritime history
Neva Audio is primarily an engineering company. Its founders, Vladimir Rataev and Fyodor Kuruzbaver, received a classical Soviet education in the field of electrical engineering, after which they came to work at the Morfizpribor Research Institute, where hydroacoustic equipment was developed for the needs of the Navy. Soon after joining this enterprise, Rataev and Kuruzbaver were enrolled in the newly opened consumer goods department, where they took part in fine-tuning the first Soviet Hi-Fi amplifier “Brig 001”. After the Brig was launched into production, Vladimir Rataev was appointed leading developer of amplifiers and speaker systems. And Fyodor Kuruzbaver left the research institute and became the sound engineer of the then booming VIA “Singing Guitars”. In subsequent years, former classmates recruited Professional power amplifiers from St. Petersburg with different experience: Rataev designed amplifiers, Kuruzbaver professionally, their company Neva Audio is often compared with the products it operated. On Rataev's account there appeared one of the best amplifiers of that time among the world's top three leaders in the Crown sound reinforcement industry, "Corvette 88", on Kuruzbaver's account - the groups "Pulse", "Zemlyane", "Soyuz". That's how things went for Crest and MC2. Such a comparison can hardly be called until 1987, when the first cooperatives began to appear in the country and many were objective, because for Neva Audio it is difficult to select engineers who went into free enterprise. That's when Quanalog. Especially in its price range. Ruzbaver came to Rataev with a proposal to make a professional power amplifier. This is how the company, later named Neva Audio, was born. Its founders included two more electronics engineers - S. Shatskov and V. Rumyantsev. The union of founding engineers turned out to be very competent. Vladimir Rataev had behind him the fundamental Soviet school of designing high-quality audio devices, and Kuruzbaver had professional work experience behind him. The first implementation of this know-how was the KIT mono amplifier, which instantly sold out across the country with a circulation of 500 copies. In many ways, the success of the first model was determined by the rare combination of professional characteristics and sound quality at the home Hi-Fi level. Subsequently, it was this ratio that became the hallmark of Neva Audio. Neva Audio amplifiers embodied the dreams of many sound engineers of that time: professional power and the legendary sound quality of top-class Soviet household amplifiers were combined in one device. At the time of its appearance, KIT became a sensation: it was not only good in its characteristics, but also affordable at a price that was an order of magnitude different from branded analogues. Amazing results Subsequently, Neva Audio continued to work according to the formula it had found: high-quality amplifiers at an affordable price. The element base was improved, new models were created, but the main principle remained unchanged: quality, reliability and a characteristic “homey” sound. In 1993, Neva Audio products became known in the West. The model of the PA-5002BG, a unique at that time two-level stereo amplifier with passive cooling, aroused interest. 50 of these amplifiers were immediately purchased by the French company Boze and the Spanish company Reflexion Arts, a company created with the participation of the world's leading sound design specialist Philip Newell, who highly appreciated the equipment from Russia: “Neva Audio sent the sound to the English editorial office for testing magazine "Studio Sound", where it was tested by the famous British specialist Sam Weiss. Based on the test results, Weiss wrote: "As trade borders open, professional audio equipment from the former Eastern Bloc is beginning to make its way to the West, with astonishing results." Subsequently, at the request of Philip Newell, Neva Audio developed the Studio II amplifier and the AX-32 asymmetrical crossover, which he still uses together with Reflexion Arts monitors.
Since the mid-nineties, Neva Audio has been constantly receiving orders from abroad. In addition to the studio models “opened” to the West by Newell, foreign clients are willing to purchase amplifiers for cinemas. In the film business, Neva Audio amplifiers have a reputation as “set it and forget it” devices, while St. Petersburg devices significantly reduce the cost of a sound complex. Soon the domestic film business also paid attention to Neva Audio. has been installing Neva Audio amplifiers in multiplex cinemas for over eight years.
Today, the Neva Audio range includes more than thirty models. Following the professional amplifiers, several models aimed at studios and home use were developed and put into production. Such a wide range allows the customer to choose the model that best suits the purpose. In all the diversity of the model range, only one thing remains unchanged: high class amplifiers, consistently high quality hand-made assembly and the highest reliability.
The secret of Neva Audio's reliability lies in its special approach to assembly and quality control system. The installers who assemble the amplifier manually tin each terminal. Then the device is inspected with passion by Sergei Shatskov, who jokes that he only needs to make two or three passes over the amplifier with his hands, and there will definitely be one or two incorrectly soldered resistors in it. After manual testing and tuning, each amplifier is sent to a stress test: automatically turning on, running at full load for 45 minutes, a 15-minute break, and turning on again at full load. And so on for two days. “All this is very expensive and labor-intensive,” says Fedor Kuruzbaver, “but it gives a 100% guarantee of operation. Reliability is a signature feature of Neva Audio, so we spare no effort on quality control.”
Today, demand for Neva Audio actually exceeds production capacity. But the founders of Neva Audio are not going to transfer production.
Kuruzbaver. — Our structure consists of people with good education and level of motivation. Everything, including soldering, is handled by people with excellent training and experience working at defense enterprises. If we subcontract a high-volume assembly, many production methods will have to change, and it remains to be seen how this will affect the overall quality of the product. Therefore, we do not want to expand production, because the name Neva Audio is the most valuable thing that we have created over the years of our company’s existence.”
