Marshall Major III Bluetooth Headphones via aptX in Ubuntu

Previously I only used wired headphones. But time passes, technology develops. I decided to buy myself a Marshall Major III Bluetooth. These are very cool sounding headphones. This article is about their use in Ubuntu, Elementary OS, Android and iOS.

Key Features of Marshall Major III Bluetooth:

  • Overhead, but not full-size. They look quite compact, neat, beautiful. The ear pads barely cover the ears. The design is foldable.
  • Can be used via Bluetooth or cable. There is a 3.5 mm jack. When using a cable, you do not need to turn on the power to the headphones.
  • If you send a signal to headphones via Bluetooth, then you can connect a second wired headphones via the 3.5 mm jack.
  • Good battery, Bluetooth headphones can last up to 30 hours on a single charge.

I chose the headphones based on reviews. Most reviews of the Marshall Major III Bluetooth are positive. Now, having used them, I completely agree with those who wrote about their excellent sound quality. The rest most likely did not understand the features, bought a fake, or simply do not have a high-quality signal source.

Autonomy

For headphones, up to 25 hours of operation are stated, subject to additional recharging from the case. By themselves, Marshall Minor III will work for five hours - a very modest figure by the standards of TWS headphones. On the plus side, the case supports Qi wireless charging, so it can be charged not only via a USB Type-C cable.

Fully charging the case via wire is relatively long and takes two hours. It takes 1.5 hours to fully charge the headphones in the case, but there is fast charging. In this case, after 15 minutes in the case, the headphones will work for 1.5 hours.

Sound quality

The sound quality is top notch for a device in this price category. High frequencies are clearly distinguished, which give the tracks a deep sound. All genres of works are heard perfectly. The only negative is weak mids, but the sound detail is no worse for this.

The sound may be interrupted if there are connection problems. This happens very rarely at home. But to reconnect, you won’t have to reboot the accessory, since they will continue to play on their own.

The sound volume also differs depending on how the headphones are connected - via wire or Bluetooth. With a wired connection the sound is quieter.

The microphone pleasantly surprises with the quality of the transmitted voice. He does not make noise during a conversation, the interlocutor hears you well. The Marshall mid bluetooth does not have noise cancellation, making it difficult to talk in public places. But at home or in the office there will be no problems.

Equipment and appearance

The kit includes:

  • headset;
  • USB cable;
  • Audio cable;
  • book with manual.

The earcups are made of vinyl, the ear pads are made of artificial leather, and the base of the structure is made of metal. On the inside there are golden inserts with the letters R and L. On the left ear there is a button behind the KNOB control (rewinding a track, answering and ending a call, playing a track). The bowls are retracted inside the headband. The headband itself is enlarged.

Ergonomics, ease of use

Headphones are convenient when listening to tracks. The adjustable headband is suitable for different head sizes and does not put pressure.

The headphones completely surround the ear and provide excellent noise insulation. The headset is practically not felt, although it weighs more than 600 grams. It does not put pressure on the ears, although it may be uncomfortable at first. But within a few days the device will take the shape of your head and fit perfectly.

The right ear has two connectors: for charging and wired connection. Wires are provided with the kit. The audio cord contains a microphone for calls. There is also a button for wired control.

Disadvantages and reviews

Cons of Marshall mid bluetooth:

  • poor midrange sound;
  • no noise reduction system;
  • don't work well on the street.

Here are some reviews about Marshall mid bluetooth from real users:

  1. Great sound! The headphones sit comfortably on your head and are pleasant to work with.
  2. Among the advantages, I can note the detailed sound, comfortable ear pads, and good sound insulation. There is only one drawback - the sound via Bluetooth and the wire are completely different.
  3. Excellent headphones with thick sound. Very pleased with the purchase.
