Monster cable speaker cable

Monster cable speaker cable does not belong to the wiring of the so-called exceptional level. Despite this, the Monster cable speaker cable appeals to convinced music lovers who do not spare money on wiring and understand that almost everything depends on it.

Interesting fact

Acoustic cable monster cable for subwoofer

Indeed, a speaker system, no matter how expensive and good it may be, a head unit of the most famous brand, a powerful amplifier, a mind-blowing sub – all this is nothing if there is no good, high-quality cable. But it is not at all necessary that the cable cost a lot of money, be gold, and so on.

Note. A test was carried out at one time, during which it was possible to deliver sound to speakers of good quality using a Monster cable. In this case, the installation and connection were carried out by a specialist. At the same time, a very expensive cable was connected to acoustics of the same class, and then the operation of both systems was checked. As it turned out, no difference was noticed. Let us hasten to reassure music lovers - ordinary people participated in the experiment, but still, this says something.

It turns out that the Monster speaker cable is quite suitable for car audio lovers. The cost of the cable, if you compare it with real monsters, is inexpensive. For 2 meters of Monster Ultra (budget option) you will have to pay about $100.

Connecting speakers with a Monster cable

Let's take a look at the advantages of this cable, taking into account that well-chosen switching is the key to good sound. Monster, as is known among experts and professionals, is considered a serious American company that has been making good speaker wires and other components since 1979. Here are the benefits, they are given below:

  • Let's start with the power cable, which is offered by the manufacturer's top line under the 400 series. This cable has a plastic cord inside with a thickness of 0/1 AWG. Very flexible cable despite its thickness. On the other hand, it can cause installation difficulties, because a thick wire is more difficult to lay.

Note. If anything, a thick Monster cable can be stretched under the car, but in advance it will be protected from a corrugated hose. It is easy to cut, and 10 meters is plenty for installing acoustics. As for the machine, it is usually taken under this cable for 250 A.

  • The cable is enough not only to provide a plus, but also a minus. Both end up in a distribution block with 6 outputs, respectively going to amplifiers with the same number.

Note. From the camshaft it would be better to extend the Monster already at 4 AWG, 10 meters each in blue and red.

  • In theory, 6 pairs of wires (tulips) should go from the car radio to the amplifier. Again, Monster 402 XLN is taken for 2 pairs (about 5 meters per pair is enough). A separate acoustic wire is stretched for the buffer (Monster 402 Extreme is also 5 meters long).

Note. This Monster cable (going to the sub) has such advantages that a music lover can only dream of. This includes fast signal transmission (the materials from which the wire is made contribute), and provision of clean, deep bass, and much more.

  • A pair of wires goes to tweeters and midrange speakers, midwoofer. This is already a Monster 402 XLN;
  • 2 Y adapters are needed for the center channel and buffer. Monster 402 XLN and 402 XLN Sub cables are used;
  • Speaker cables are also taken by Monster. The Monster 402 Extreme Speaker with a plastic cord and many layers of various shielding is especially good in this regard. Enough cable for 45 meters. Very thick cables. Installing and connecting is a hassle, but reliable.

Monster Cable vs. Hanger: Friendship Wins

Good sound is a relative concept. Convinced music lovers with extra financial resources will “treat” anyone for the necessary acoustics, amplifier and, of course, audio cables. There is an opinion that expensive cables (necessarily gold-plated!) are the key to desperately amazing sound, which (all other things being equal) cannot be achieved using a regular cheap “cord”. At least recently, at one of the “events”, I heard a lot of audiophiles promoting immeasurable spending on cables. And, of course, I asked myself, is this really necessary? Hell no. It turns out that the sound fed to the speaker system through a regular folding hanger (after a little modification in the form of soldering plugs to the ends of the “tubes” that it consists of) will be no worse than when using, for example, a Monster Ultra Series THX 1000 Audio Interconnects cable. At least, ordinary people who participated in an experiment to evaluate sound “through a hanger and through a cable” did not find any difference. The editor of the source received a letter from a participant in one of the many forums where everything related to audio and sound is discussed - Audioholics Home Theater Forum. In which he described in detail the experiment he and his comrades conducted.

Given: five friends who are not deaf, but also do not have perfect hearing, Martin Logan SL-3 acoustics (about $3.5 thousand per pair), a two-meter Monster Ultra Series THX 1000 Audio Interconnects cable (inexpensive, about $100) and ordinary hangers , made of wire, which were disassembled and “turned” into two-meter two-core cables. By the way, about the not so expensive Monster Cable. I started with overly expensive ones, but in the experiment they were so-so. The fact is that there is simply no difference between a $100 cable and a $7500 cable. At least this difference has not been proven by anyone. What the JREF organization can swear on by mom.

So. The task before the “audiophiles” was extremely simple. While listening to the same compositions (the “testers” had not heard them before), at a volume level of 75 dB at 1000 kHz, the guys had to determine when the sound was supplied to the Monster 1000, when through a regular wire (Belden), and when - through the cable from the hanger.

As a result, two out of five audiophiles were able to distinguish the Monster 1000 from Belden. But no one noticed the replacement of Monster 1000 with a “hanger”. And even after five tests. So what now? To the store for hangers?

Need for Speed

HDMI 2.0 Monster Cable Black Platinum Price – RUB 6,990.
(1.5 meters) Such speeds blow your mind away. Just imagine, this cable of the latest HDMI 2.0 standard is capable of instantly transmitting up to 27 gigabits, that is, 3.4 gigabytes of digital information. It's as if the contents of an entire hard drive were transferred to another device in just a second!

Why is this necessary? Just a couple of years ago, even experts would have unanimously answered: “except for the future.” But recently the situation is changing rapidly. Video with a resolution of 4k, which has a significantly higher bitrate compared to the Full HD format we are used to, is becoming increasingly widespread. In addition to increasing the image resolution, the color palette is also expanding - from today’s standard 24 bits to 36 or even 48 bits, moving from millions to billions of shades. The audio data stream is also growing due to the increasing adoption of high-definition multi-channel audio standards such as Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD Master Audio, which feature up to 8 independent audio channels at up to 24-bit/192 kHz. But even more advanced formats with more than a dozen independent audio channels are on the way! The emergence of the long-awaited Ultra HD Blu-ray media and players for playing them gave the industry an impetus for the next round of development, because now users are offered better picture and sound in an equally convenient optical media format.

But these gigantic streams of digital data need to be transmitted from the player to the AV receiver and further to the TV or projector without loss, not forgetting additional services such as ARC and Ethernet. The first technology, called Audio Return Channel, allows you to use the same cable to supply a picture with sound from an AV receiver to a TV in a home theater and send the sound of TV broadcasts (or, for example, a smartphone connected to the TV) back to the AV. receiver for playback through speakers. An Ethernet channel is no less convenient: one device in a home theater is connected to the local network, and all other devices access the Internet through this same device using only an HDMI connection. As a matter of fact, all of the previously listed digital streams with video and audio data are also transmitted between devices exclusively via an HDMI cable, so the requirements for bandwidth and support for various technologies for HDMI wires have increased many times over. The consequence of this was the introduction of the HDMI version 2.0 standard in 2013, which absorbed all the advantages of HDMI version 1.4, additionally offering the market unprecedented information exchange speeds, which opened the way for simultaneous transmission of 4k/8k video with frame scanning up to 120 Hz and deep color palette simultaneously with high-resolution multi-channel audio. And all this without compromising data exchange over a dedicated Internet channel. In total, digital information can be transmitted up to 18 gigabits per second. Monster Cable has gone even further and released HDMI 2.0 cables called Black Platinum, with a throughput of up to 27 gigabits per second! Today, these are the “fastest” cables within the company’s catalog and one of the “fastest” on the market in general, which guarantees no data loss even during peak load times. Despite this, the prices do not seem monsters: 6,990 rubles for a one and a half meter sample and 8,490 rubles for a three meter long cable. At the time of publication of the article, the Russian Monster Cable website offered only two standard sizes of connectors in this series, although as many as seven are available to American buyers - from 1.2 to 10.7 meters. Let's hope that soon we will have a similar choice.

The cable itself is beautiful without any reservations. More precisely, the wire here is the most ordinary in appearance - black, in smooth PVC insulation, but the connectors are good in appearance and easy to use. They are metal, covered with glossy dark gray enamel, in the center there is a carbon-look insert with anti-slip rubber bands.

The plug is plated with 24-karat gold, designed to maintain reliable contact in the long term, and, according to the manufacturer, will withstand at least 10,000 connections. Such a quantity is excessive even for a 24-hour electronics store in the center of a metropolis, but the buyer can rest assured: even after a few years, the cable will not lose its original consumer qualities. Speaking about the intricacies of making Monster Cable Black Platinum, we cannot fail to mention the proprietary technology for securely fixing the plug in the socket - V-Grip. It is very difficult to accidentally pull out such a cable. The signal is transmitted through 26 AWG copper conductors with intermediate layers of insulation and shielding.

The passage itself, although it looks thick (its diameter is 8.5 mm), bends quite well, maintaining the shape specified by the user. As for interference protection, we conducted several simple experiments. Namely, they placed a working microwave oven near the HDMI wire, called a nearby cell phone, and also laid power cables close together under a load of 4 kW. All these manipulations did not in any way affect the quality of the 4k picture and multi-channel sound: no noise on the screen, no clicks in the speakers. True, we got acquainted with Monster Cable Black Platinum using a relatively short one and a half meter sample. However, keeping in mind the excellent reputation of the manufacturer, we believe that the longer versions will not let you down.
