Design: beauty lies in simplicity

The model is presented in two color options: black and snow-white. Its basis is plastic with a rubberized surface.

The texture is matte, so it does not collect fingerprints and dirt. If there is a need to remove any dirt, then it is quite possible to use a damp cloth or sponge, since the case is protected from moisture according to the IPX4 standard, i.e. from water splashes from any direction. This means that you can wash the device and play sports, but it is not recommended to swim with it.

There is a small control button on the front surface of the Mini Bluetooth earphone. There are two LEDs on the side that glow with a pleasant white-blue hue. One of the LEDs is responsible for informing the user that it is synchronized with a smartphone, and the second is responsible for informing the user that the device is in working condition.

The designers did a great job on the ergonomics of the device, so it is not felt at all in the ear and does not exert the slightest pressure on the auricle. The main thing is to choose the right size of silicone ear pads (the kit includes ear pads in sizes S, M, L)

I’ll start with the equipment, since people are greeted by their clothes. At the bottom of the box we can find this little case, which is quite bulky, so I didn’t use it. In it we see a small micro USB cord and five pairs of ear pads, which is very good, since everyone’s ears are quite different.

Ease of control

The device is controlled using one compact button:

• To make a call, you need to press it twice;
• A single press pauses the music track and starts playing it, and also accepts an incoming call;
• A long press (longer than 1 second) allows you to reject an incoming call;
• If you hold the button for more than 5 seconds, the Bluetooth function will be activated;
• The Xiaomi headset itself turns on by pressing the key once.

Results

The mono headset from the popular Chinese manufacturer is quite consistent with its price category. The buyer of the headphone receives a device suitable for different purposes. Primarily for conversations, although the headset can be used for music, videos or audiobooks.

By connecting a pair of devices at the same time, Headset Mini can replace conventional stereo headphones.

However, to get high-quality sound, you should choose another headset, although it will be more expensive and, most likely, noticeably heavier.

Battery life

The choice of a wireless headset from Xiaomi is also supported by excellent battery life. The capacity of the lithium-polymer battery is sufficient to ensure the operation of the device for 6 hours in standby mode and 3 hours during active use.

Replenishing the charge occurs by installing the Mini Bluetooth Headset into a special magnetic charger and then connecting via USB. The charge replenishment time is 1 hour.

Level of autonomy

Using the headset for talking or listening to music, you can count on 3 hours of work. In low temperature conditions the time decreases, indoors it increases.

Other models, such as the Xiaomi Mi Millet Sports Bluetooth Youth Edition, work several times longer. But the weight and size make these accessories more noticeable and heavier.

In Headset Mini, the manufacturer sacrificed autonomy for compactness and reducing charging time to 40 minutes.

Recharging is done with a cord. On one side there is a USB connector, on the other there is a magnetic socket. The absence of the need to install into a connector increases the service life of both the cable and the charger or power bank port.

Is it worth buying?

The main argument in favor of buying a device is the ability to make calls without holding a smartphone in your hands. This allows you to safely drive a car, ride a bike or play sports, being confident in your own safety. In addition to conversations, you can use the headset to listen to music, because the device can simultaneously connect to two gadgets at once. Thanks to its incredibly light weight and ergonomic shape, the Mini Bluetooth earphone is absolutely not felt in the ear, providing maximum wearing comfort.

Sound quality

The main function of Xiaomi Mi Millet Bluetooth Headset Mini is to talk on the phone in hands free mode. The absence of noise is ensured by a MEMS microphone and a 7 mm dynamic driver.

When talking, there is slight sound distortion compared to using a smartphone. However, clarity and intelligibility remain high.

The design of the mono headset allows you to make the sound louder during a conversation - just raise your hand to your ear.

On the street, especially in windy weather, audibility becomes worse. Because of this, the model cannot be called a suitable option for street use. On the other hand, indoors the headset provides excellent sound, allowing you to listen to music or audiobooks.

The audio quality is sufficient even for not too demanding music lovers. The bass is tight, the mids and highs are good, a noticeable difference is only audible on complex compositions.

Listening to music can be hampered by having only one earphone. But the parameters of a mono headset allow you to buy two copies, connect them to your phone and use them as an inexpensive analogue of TWS headphones. Although, to support simultaneous connection, you will need a mobile device with Bluetooth 5.0 support.

Greetings to all PlusPda readers! I want to share my impressions of the Bluetooth headset from the Chinese brand Xiaomi. In a nutshell, you can take it! I skip the tracks, deadlines and pimply polyethylene, here everything is as usual. I’ll go straight to the treasured box. It is completely white with a company logo on top and brief characteristics below. In addition, it is hermetically sealed with transparent film. The cardboard is very thick and pleasant to the touch.

Now to the content. Having opened the box we are immediately greeted by the headset. I ordered the black version, as I thought it would be more practical, but it seemed to me.

The plastic has a matte surface, and marks from oily fingers remain well on it and are difficult to remove. Apparently this problem will disappear with a uniform “fatness” of the entire surface, we’ll wait. There is a microUSB socket on the front end. It does not have a plug and, it seems to me, risks soon becoming clogged with street pollen. Used to charge the battery.

At the rear end the main control is a mechanical button.

The press/hold combination performs various functions (more on this below). The dynamic emitter is covered with a metal mesh and a rubber ear tip is placed on top (included are 3 sizes to choose from).

Also in the box you can find a USB - microUSB cable, by the way, almost the same as in Xiaomi power banks, and instructions in Chinese.

Regarding the instructions, questions arise: why only Chinese? Why not duplicate it in English? It seems that the Xiaomi brand has already been promoted and is already sold outside of China. Or did I come across a product for the domestic market and there is also an export option? Unclear! Now I’ll tell you about my subjective opinion about this headset. The experience of using it is about a week, but I think this is enough for a device of such complexity. The weight of the headset is about 7 grams, it fits in the ear quite confidently, but still not tightly. By the way, the installed emitter is very good and quite suitable for listening to music in the background. From the music player control, only pause/play and one quick button press are available. The disadvantages could be the lack of volume buttons; they could additionally switch next/previous tracks, but this is still not a music headset, it seems to be excusable. The volume can only be adjusted from the phone. As for the volume level, when compared with the earpiece speaker, the headset sounds a little louder. Now about the main purpose. The quality of communication during a telephone conversation is at a very high level! There is no extraneous noise or distortion, the interlocutor’s voice sounds clear. The same can be said about the built-in microphone. Sensitivity is at a high level; it is enough to speak in a calm, quiet voice to be heard. During an incoming call, the caller's phone number is heard, naturally in Chinese, then a looped fragment is played, very reminiscent of an excerpt from Wagner's opera "Ride of the Valkyries". To accept a call - one short press of the button, to reject - one long press, but not too much, otherwise the headset will turn off. To call the last number dialed, use two short presses. During a call, two short presses mute the microphone, two more presses turn it on. A few measurements: the time to fully charge the battery is about an hour and a half; charge current from USB ~ 61mA; continuous music playback time ~ 6 hours; I haven’t measured the autonomy, but the Chinese claim 180 hours. Range of action is at the same level as any other Bluetooth devices, about 10m line of sight

In conclusion, I will add personal observations. In the list of devices, the headset is called 小米蓝牙耳机. It is not possible to connect to two phones at the same time, even if there is authorization. After authorization on the first device, the headset becomes hidden to other devices. To link it to another phone, you need to connect the charger and hold the button until there is a sound/light signal. After this, the headset is again visible to everyone. Before the battery dies, 3 Chinese warnings sound, every 4 minutes.

We can summarize.
I definitely recommend purchasing! The thing is really good, albeit without any special features. The pros include the connection quality, microphone sensitivity, and mechanical function button. ps I had a review of a headset with a touch button, it turned out to be not very convenient to use. Subjective disadvantages include the lack of volume keys, no USB plug, and a rather high price. Although it was not in vain that I bought on Everbuying, it can be cheaper in other stores, but here I had points with which I could pay for part of the order. Many thanks to the local guys who constantly monitor Chinese stores for any freebies. I managed to accumulate a bunch of bonus points, so I put them to use. As a result, the price drops to $11.56 (don’t forget about the mobile site discount), which is quite acceptable. pps unfortunately there won’t be any photos of the insides, I don’t know how to carefully disassemble them. For Home Video fans, I’ll add an unboxing video UPD: it’s still possible to connect the headset to two phones simultaneously, thanks to 777ivp for the information. After binding to the first phone, you need to turn off the headset (and Bluetooth on the first phone), turn on the headset again, but hold the button until The indicator blinks quickly - the headset is ready for pairing again. After pairing, both phones will connect to the earphone and work correctly.

Disassembly

To disassemble, you need to open the latches on the sides of the case. The board contains an 8-pin NOR Flash memory chip FT25LX04T, a microphone and a CSR8610 chip, which is a mono Bluetooth 4.1 headset from Quallcomm. From the CSR8610 description: “The CSR8610 is a single-chip mono headset with advanced echo and noise cancellation technology designed for low-cost mono headsets, mono speakers, loudspeakers and car kit applications.” A lithium battery is glued to the back of the board.

Conclusion

Xiaomi LYEJ02LM is a good budget Bluetooth headset in terms of price/quality ratio that copes with its tasks, the main of which are telephone conversations and listening to audio without expecting super sound quality. Among the positive aspects, I can note the laconic design, A2DP support, miniature size, weight and cost of the device. The cost can be further reduced by $2-3 using the method described at the end of my last review. What I would like to improve is the battery capacity and autonomy, and add the ability to turn off voice prompts.
