Subwoofer tuning
Tuning a subwoofer is sometimes more of a necessary measure than just an improvement. The fact is that today not only music lovers, but also ordinary listeners want to get clear sound, without any distortion. Proper tuning and installation of a subwoofer in a car will help to implement the idea.
How to make acoustically transparent grills to keep cats out?
To listen to music on weekends, I take off the grills - like in the photo, but because of the cats (they sleep on the speakers - they can damage the speakers by jumping on them), I constantly have to put them back on afterwards. I take pictures because they resonate.
I would like to hear your suggestions on what can be used to protect speakers from damage; perhaps you have experience making protective nets for acoustics with your own hands.
If possible, attach a photo.
I will not break or retighten the original grills.
I respect cats and I won’t forbid them to sleep on the speaker!)
Bass reflex
This type is more bulky and more difficult to calculate and configure, but a homemade subwoofer has efficiency and sound quality that is significantly higher than the previous version. As in the previous case, calculations of parameters are carried out using one of the programs.
Choosing a bass reflex for a subwoofer
We cut the walls to the required dimensions and carefully fasten them together with glue and self-tapping screws. It is recommended to coat the inside of the seams with silicone sealant. For putty, two-component automotive putty is used. It is necessary to sand the body as thoroughly as possible.
We cut out holes for the bass reflex, special handle pockets and sockets. We install and check the reliability of all fasteners. The body can be covered with leather.
There are slot-type FI options. The main difference is the unique alkaline inverter. Due to the special design, fastening is best done with long screws; liquid nails or Moment glue are used for sealing. However, the greatest strength and sealing is achieved if the fabric and epoxy resin are used. Otherwise, the manufacturing and assembly process is similar to a conventional bass reflex.

The movement of the speakers does not allow the use of original grills - it touches either plastic or fabric at high volumes + when the grills are on, the midrange and treble lose their richness - I think due to the density of the fabric. The option with mesh is more attractive to me - there are claw marks on the fabric... I won’t let cats in my slippers - they have an anti-depressive effect on me.
Try the option with internal mesh fastening, and you can seal the outside with varnish - it will be gorgeous. :)))
In Audiomania, the same studs for grills come in different lengths; you can make an indent.
Cats can be used as weight to reduce cabinet resonances (but you need to feed a lot for weight), I have a huge heavy stack of “stereo and video” magazines on the sub for this purpose
