How to make a 12V power filter for a car radio with your own hands

What should be the correct setting for a subwoofer in a car?

Setting up the subwoofer should be done at the stage of designing the speaker box. During this, many different parameters are taken into account: the music that the owner will listen to most often, the amplifier that will work with the speaker and the car in which the subwoofer housing will be installed.

When designing a box, an important role is played by the parameters of the speaker, which determine in what acoustic design it can work. For example, if a speaker is capable of playing well in a bass reflex enclosure, its port can be adjusted either higher or lower, depending on the music you prefer.

Of course, if you get a subwoofer in a factory case, its customization options are limited. But with the right approach, achieving acceptable sound is quite possible. Where to start setting up a subwoofer?

DIY: Fighting radio interference from DVR/navigator power supplies

In the text below I’m not trying to “open America” for readers, I just decided to share my experience...

It all started about a year ago, when I noticed that when listening to the radio in a car, noise appeared, and it did not always appear, but only in certain points of the city, where there had never been problems with reception before. At that moment I thought that this was related to the work on the radio transmitting tower, and I rarely listen to radio broadcasts, more and more music from disks, so I did not pay much attention to the problem.

But just recently, in the “Question and Answer” service, DNS came across several questions about problems with standard power supplies for DVRs and navigators and, with active Googling, I came across a mention of low-quality products, which cause interference in car radios when listening to the radio, and moreover, interference with GPS receivers of navigators. Both the power supply and the device connected to it can make noise. Comparing these facts with the date of purchase of the Explay DVR-004 DVR (just a year ago), suspicions began to creep in that it was the source of radio interference.

I drove around the city, found the point where the interference started, pulled out the DVR power supply from the cigarette lighter and...

The interference disappeared, the radio became audible just fine!

The problem has been localized, it's time to fix it
