Sansui 607 is made with high quality, inside you can see large capacitors, a powerful transformer, impressive heatsinks and healthy screw-on audio cable clamps. The most interesting thing is that the 707 model, although of a higher level, has a more spartan design - modest terminals, etc. But at the same time, of course, this was done specifically to show the advantages of the 907 model in comparison. nevertheless, the 707 model has a completely copper-plated chassis, which speaks of a high-class device, a larger number of capacitors, etc., and the sound, of course, is better than that of the 607.

It has a slightly different look compared to previous years, instead of a laconic black metal front with wooden sides, the look of the alpha series has been radically changed. I was surprised that even CDs with a highly compressed dynamic range, for example Daft Punk “RAM” or Parov Stelar “Art of sampling”, are listened to perfectly, without causing rejection. Of course, they do not have the same sound resolution as uncompressed discs (for example, David Murray Octopus), but they are still pleasant to listen to, without the desire to throw them out the window. Yaku sounds very sensual and exciting. Perhaps this is facilitated by a fairly high, but not ultra, level of detail, smoothing out the sound, giving it an “analog” style. Compared to new-made devices (Marantz Pearl Lite), Sansui AU-alpha 607 is slightly lacking in microdynamics, but can well be considered as a cheaper alternative. In addition, of course, the Sansui AU-alpha 607 is built on high-quality Sanken transistors and is very fast in music. Where modern Marantz plays more impressively, Sansui AU-alpha 607 is able to show greater energy, which is very important for many genres (heavy metal for example). Of course, in comparison with devices of a higher level (Onkyo M-506R), it is clear that the amplifier greatly simplifies and does not have such stage depth and resolution, but still this is a good Hi-Fi level, according to the classification of What Hi-Fi magazine it would confidently qualify to the middle class. For example, the Sansui AU-alpha 607 is confidently and crushingly far superior in sound (in terms of detail, thoroughbred sound, etc.) to such a model as the Marantz PM 6003, which is considered by What Hi-Fi magazine to be the leader of initial Hi-Fi. If you want to step even higher, then your path lies in the plane of the 707 model, where you will find higher sound resolution and a number of features that were in the 607 model, but in the 707 they are taken to a new level of perception.
